This set of four paintings tells the story of the flood from the book of Genesis 6-9. 
Painting 1:  God calls the male and female cubs to enter the ark for their salvation while their parents watch from the bushes. 
Painting 2: Lion see the first lighting.  No rain had ever come before the earth was previously watered by a mist.
Painting 3. The mother and father lions are caught in the rain that flooded the earth as well as fountains of the deep that broke open.
Painting 4. The cub see the rainbow and Noah after being saved in the ark.  The figure in the lions pupil looks like it is forming a cross which has the symbolism of what Jesus Christ did for our salvation.
