FREEDOM

I got the idea for this drawing immediately after a massive spiritual upheaval in my life. Through the power of his Word (the Bible) God liberated me from lies that had bound my mind for years. These lies had been crushing the life out of me, and they were weighing me down like cast iron chains. They confined me to a tiny, miserable, dark place where there was no hope, joy or life, just continual heaviness of spirit, darkness and miserable bondage, particularly to addictions.
When God came to me and shone the light of His Word, which is truth (John 17:17), it powerfully smashed the lies to bits. Like a great eagle that had been bound with iron chains, I was liberated by Jesus Christ. As I stretched out my wings to take flight in my new found freedom, I felt the remnants of the chains slide off my back. Praise be to God for flooding me with the light of His Word and its liberation power!
"By lying to my people, who listen to lies, you have killed those who should not have died and have spared those who should not live. Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against your magic charms with which you ensnare people like birds and I will tear them from your arms; I will set free the people that you ensnare like birds...I will save my people from your hands, and they will no longer fall prey to your power...Then you will know that I am the LORD...you disheartened the righteous with your lies, when I had brought them no grief, and because you encouraged the wicked not to turn from their evil ways and so save their lives..." (Ezekiel 13:19-22)
