THE INTERCESSOR
“I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. ‘He will rule them with an iron scepter.’ He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” (Revelation 19:11-16)

"For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds." (2 Corinthians 10:3-4)
Spiritual battle is constantly going on, whether it be over a soul, temptations or events in the world to name a few things. The Lord calls His people to join in the battle through prayer. Though I do not fully understand the spiritual realm, I know that as we pray fervently and in faith ("The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective" James 5:16), God moves and His army advances against the enemy.
One of the biggest tactics of the enemy is to convince us prayer is not powerful. However, the Lord promises us, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us--whatever we ask--we know that we have what we asked of him" (1 John 5:14-15).
This painting depicts a person (who knows full well his own weakness and limitations) who is interceding and trusting in the omnipotent King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ, who, in turn, is manifesting His victory in answer to the humble man’s prayer.
